Single storey wrap-around extension – Bishopston, Bristol
This single-storey wrap-around extension in Bishopston, Bristol, was designed to transform a traditional family home into a light-filled, open, and sociable space. The aim was to improve the flow of the house and create a bright, versatile area for cooking, dining, and relaxing.
The new layout brings the kitchen, dining, and sitting areas together in one generous open-plan space that encourages family connection and easy entertaining. Large bifold doors open directly onto the garden, strengthening the link between indoors and outdoors, while roof lanterns flood the kitchen and island area with natural light throughout the day.
A pitched roof with exposed beams adds both height and warmth, giving the space a distinctive character that feels contemporary yet inviting. This project showcases my experience in designing house extensions in Bristol, combining practicality, light, and thoughtful detailing to create a home that feels both modern and full of personality.
