Single storey rear extension in Bedminster, Bristol
This single storey rear extension in Bedminster, South Bristol, was designed for a young couple looking to create a brighter, more flexible home with space to grow. The aim was to transform a compact end-of-terrace house into an open, welcoming environment filled with natural light and better connected to the garden.
The 4.5-metre-deep extension features a flat roof with two lantern skylights that flood the new kitchen and dining area with daylight. At the rear, wide bifold doors open directly onto the garden, creating a seamless flow between inside and out — perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
Inside, the ground floor has been reconfigured to form a spacious open-plan layout, bringing the kitchen, dining, and living areas together in one harmonious space. This project reflects my experience in designing house extensions in Bristol, combining practicality, natural light, and thoughtful design to create homes that work beautifully for modern living.
