Double storey side extension in Frenchay, Bristol
This double-storey side extension in the Frenchay conservation area was designed to create a larger kitchen and dining space on the ground floor, along with an expanded master bedroom upstairs. The project required a sensitive approach to ensure the new addition complemented the traditional character of the property and its surroundings.
The extension carefully mirrors the existing house, using stone cladding, Bath stone quoins, and timber-framed doors to achieve a seamless match between old and new. The main entrance was also relocated from the front to the side, where a traditional cottage-style porch reinstates a former opening and enhances the home’s authentic charm.
This project shows how thoughtful design can bring together tradition and comfort, resulting in a home that feels both timeless and a joy to live in.
