About Me
Hello, I’m Paola, architect and founder of Lumio Designs, which I established in 2015. Originally from Italy, I’m now happily based in Bristol, where I bring together creativity and practical UK architectural experience in every project.
As a freelance architect in Bristol, I work directly with homeowners as well as in collaboration with local architectural practices and fellow architects. With over 10 years’ experience working closely with Bristol’s Planning Department, I help clients navigate the approvals process clearly and efficiently, keeping every project on track.
While most of my work is focused in and around Bristol, my international background includes architectural design experience across Italy, shaping the way I approach design today.
The Architectural Design Process
I manage every project from start to finish, guiding you through a clear and structured process. It begins with a free initial consultation, where we discuss your ideas, assess feasibility, and provide a detailed quote. Next, I carry out a laser-measured survey to create accurate existing drawings, which form the foundation for creative design plans and 3D visualisations tailored to your brief. Once the design is finalised, I handle the Planning Permission or Lawful Development Certificate submission, managing all correspondence with the Local Authority. Finally, I prepare a comprehensive set of construction drawings for Building Regulations approval, ensuring your builder can complete the work confidently, safely, and to a high standard.
